ANGELINA COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - A 52-year-old Diboll man turned himself into Angelina County Sheriff's deputies Sunday in connection to allegations that he stabbed his 29-year-old son multiple times after a fight started between the two of them and a third party.
Elton Ray Grimes was booked into the Angelina County Jail on a third-degree felony charge of aggravated assault of a family member with a deadly weapon. No bail amount had been set as of 12:45 p.m. Monday.
According to the Angelina County Sheriff's Office daily activity report, the fight broke out near the intersection of Wolf Hill Road and FM 844. During the fight, Grimes allegedly stabbed his son numerous times.
The wounds required medical treatment, but they did not appear to be life-threatening, the report stated.
Grimes turned himself in to authorities shortly after ACSO deputies obtained a warrant for his arrest.
According to the Angelina County Jail Website, Grimes has an arrest record that dates back to 2009. He has previously been arrested for driving while intoxicated, deadly conduct, a judgment for boating while intoxicated, assault-family member-impeding breath or circulation, public intoxication, and burglary of a habitation with the intent to commit another felony.
