Mayor Wants City Property Sold

In Nacogdoches the mayor wants to convince commissioners that the city should sell some prime real estate.

The mayor wants to sell the old R & K Distributing Center on the West loop so they can collect the taxes on it. The city had planned on relocating the Public Works Department to that location when they bought the property just two years ago.

Mayor Bob Dunn feels the same way about property the city owns on University Drive. He says it's not fair to business owners who must pay taxes on expensive property when the city pays nothing on high priced real estate.

The items were under discussion for Tuesday night's city commission meeting.
