78-year-old Center man dies in one-vehicle rollover accident in Shelby Co.

SHELBY COUNTY, TX (KTRE) -

A 78-year-old Center man died in a one-vehicle rollover accident on FM 2140 in Shelby County Sunday morning.

According to a press release, Texas Department of Public Safety troopers responded to the scene of the accident at approximately 7:55 a.m. Sunday.

The preliminary accident investigation revealed that a 2003 Dodge Ram pickup driven by Charles Ray Davis was traveling south on FM 2140 when he left the roadway to the right. Then Davis swerved back to the left, crossed both lanes of traffic, struck a culvert, and rolled over.

The 2003 wound up in the northbound ditch alongside FM 2140.

Davis was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash. He was pronounced dead at the scene by Justice of the Peace Maxie Eaves.

The crash is still under investigation, and no additional information is available at this time.
