BURKE, TX (KTRE) -

An 80-year-old woman died in a house fire in the 500 block of Andrews Lane in Burke early Tuesday morning.

According to Bobby Cranford, the chief of the Fuller Springs Volunteer Fire Department, the woman has been identified as Mary Reynolds. Reynolds' body was found in a bedroom of the home, he said.

The Fuller Springs and Diboll volunteer fire departments responded to the fire. Cranford said his department was called out to the fire at 3:28 a.m. Tuesday.

When the Fuller Springs firefighters arrived on the scene, the house had already burned to the ground. Cranford said. He said it appeared as though the home had been burning for hours. The person that called in the fire simply said the house was smoking, Cranford said.

Very little of the home other than the chimney and a satellite dish was recognizable Tuesday morning at the scene of the fire. The blaze also burned a nearby SUV to its rims.

Cranford said the State Fire Marshall's Office is investigating the blaze. He added that the fire did so much damage to the house, that it will be difficult for investigators to determine the cause of the fire.
