LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - Local health officials are urging caution as we hit the winter months, saying now is the time to get your flu shot.
This Thursday, the health district in Lufkin will be hosting their 8th annual flu shot drive.
The event will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the new Preventative Health Center behind the health district on Hill Street.
The shots are $25 a person, and officials say it is important for everyone to get the shot.
"The most important reason people should get the flu shot is to help keep the incidents of flu in our community low,” said Infectious Disease Director Sarah Adams. “We want to make sure that your and your family members are vaccinated. Anyone who takes care of young children or the elderly need to make sure they are vaccinated."
The health district says they have plenty of flu shots and are not worried about running out.
