More Flu Vaccine Has Come To Lufkin

by Chris Cato

If you've been waiting to get a flu shot, you have a chance to get one Thursday. Five thousand doses of the flu vaccine arrived in Angelina County Wednesday.

Most of the doses will be distributed to area physicians, nursing homes, and hospitals, but 400-500 shots will be available on a first come, first served basis starting Thursday morning at 8:00.

Sharon Shaw, Director of Angelina County and Cities Health District said, "We anticipate that those will probably be gone Thursday and Friday morning, but we're comfortable in the fact that a lot of the physicians ordered for their patients. We're just here to pick up the slack."

The vaccine will be available at the Health District Office at 503 Hill Street in Lufkin to people of all ages. However, it will be targeted for priority groups, or those at the highest risk for flu complications.
