The United Way of Angelina County is 14 percent closer to reaching their goal.
Friday morning the United Way team met up and the Lufkin Mall to paint the first thermometer of the fundraising season.
The $465,000 campaign kicked off just two weeks ago and leaders say everything is off to a great start.
"It's a reflection of our community coming together and always knowing this is a great opportunity to give to an agency or a cause that pertains to food, clothing and shelter," said campaign chair Martha Hernandez.
The United Way of Angelina County is supporting 20 agencies this year. All the money raised will stay right here in the county.
