More on School District Investigation & Review

The Texas Education Agency is taking longer than expected to complete its report of an On-Site Governance investigation that happened in September in Nacogdoches. The agency is looking into allegations of school board members overstepping its authority.

On Thursday a letter from the TEA corrects its original timeline. The TEA preliminary report is scheduled to be mailed out Dec. 9 to the district. The TEA originally said it was mailed last month.

The delay is happening because a special committee at the agency is reviewing the report.

The superintendent and school board members have until December 23rd to respond. Following that the final report will be released to the public.

Meanwhile in a separate matter, a Texas School Performance Review team is not commenting about this week's visit with NISD. They are directing any questions to the 'Legislative Budget Board's' website.

You will find the district's performance review contract and eventually the final report at On that site click on the "Texas Public Education Performance Review" and go to the subheading "Request for Proposal" or "Public Education."
