LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) -

Lufkin Police officers arrested a 20-year-old man for driving while intoxicated with a child under the age of 15 in the car after he allegedly drove off the road, and his vehicle collided with a light pole early Thursday afternoon.

Brandon Lee Ferguson, 20, of Lufkin, is still being held in the Angelina County jail on a state-jail felony DWI with a child under the age of 15 in the car and a Class C misdemeanor invalid license charge. Although a $500 bail has been set for the invalid license charge, no bail has been set for the DWI charge.

Sgt. David Casper, a spokesman for the Lufkin Police Department, said that LPD officers responded to a report of a vehicle crash at approximately 1:145 p.m. Thursday.

During the accident investigation, the officers determined that Ferguson was intoxicated when the accident occurred. Because there was a child in the car with him, he was arrested, charged with DWI with a child, and taken to the Angelina County Jail.

The investigation is still pending.
