The SFA Lumberjacks are looking to rebound against Nicholls this weekend after last week's loss against Central Arkansas.
The ‘Jacks have won the last six meetings with Nicholls and will be searching for their first Southland Conference win.
What may come as a surprise to the SFA fans is that the ‘Jacks haven't won a road game since 2011. However on paper, the ‘Jacks are the clear favorite in this game
In six games, the Colonels have only put 57 points on the board and haven't recorded a single sack this season. Despite the non-threatening statistics, SFA head coach Clint Conque said they will enter this game ready to expect the unexpected from a team like Nicholls because of how unpredictable they are.
“Nicholls is the type of team that tends to win 1 or 2 games every year that they really aren't supposed to,” said Conque. “We need to go down there with our hair on fire and be focused on the task at hand or we'll become the victim of one of those two schools that they beat every year, that they probably aren't supposed to.”
“Every conference game is a big game, and the next game is always the biggest game of the season,” said sophomore offensive linemen Travis Wiggins. “We need to maintain our focus and we respect every single opponent. It comes down to us just doing our roles and being responsible for your duty.”
It will be a six hour road trip for the ‘Jacks to get to Nicholls. They will play Saturday at 6 p.m.
