LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - ?
East Texans are getting ready to shake-and-save the girls. We're talking about Zumba for breast cancer awareness. The Changing Lives Dance Center is hosting their 4th annual Zumbathon.
It's a super hero theme, dancing evening to raise money to find a cure for breast cancer. More than 70 people are already registered and there is still room for more. 13 local dance instructors are going to donate their moves to the cause.
"The awareness is getting bigger as far as the awareness for breast cancer. Not only do we cater to the people who are needing to know a little more about what is breast cancer and how it affects you and your family but the resources you can get from our community once you are diagnosed or once you're in remission," said Rudy Flores, owner of Changing Lives Dance Center.
The Zumbathon is this Saturday, October 18 at First United Methodist Church across from Lufkin Middle School from 6 pm to 9 pm.
It's $25 for the three-hour event and all of the proceeds go directly to the local American Cancer Society branch. You can also register online:
