Texas Forest Association celebrates 100 years with commemorative tree

LUFKIN, TX (News Release) -

The Texas Forestry Association continues to celebrate 100 years as the voice of forestry with a ceremonial tree planting.

The tree, a Shumard Oak donated by Steely Lumber of Huntsville, Texas, will be planted in honor of the TFA's 100th year and in memory of Loren Leroy Bishop, first Forest Supervisor of the National Forests in Texas and the first Executive Secretary for Texas Forestry Association.

Speakers for the ceremony included Mayor Bob Brown, Mayor of Lufkin; Lee Carroll, President of Texas Forestry Association; Mark Van Every, Supervisor of National Forests and Grasslands of Texas; and Ron Hufford, Executive Director of Texas Forestry Association.
