The Nacogdoches Dragons enter this week of football after crushing Corsicana 49-21 last week.
Nacogdoches will be playing Jacksonville Friday who hasn't done any crushing of their own in the district, because they're the ones being crushed week in and week out.
Picked to finish last in the district, Jacksonville seems to be following suit to that. They may be 0-3 in the district, but the Dragons said Jacksonville is the last team they want to fall asleep on.
“We got to go into this game like any other game,” said junior safety Corey Lane. “We'll have to do our part and play the same. We can't go into the game thinking that this team is not going to play as good as any other team in our district. We just have to play how we've been playing against any other team.”
“We got to treat every team like they're the best team because the one time we don't treat them like the best, then they're going to come and we're going to slip up,” said senior right tackle Cole Badders. “We got to play to the best of our abilities this week.”
Head coach Bobby Reyes has the team staying on their toes against Jacksonville because every win in their district is critical when you look at the competition.
“Our kids know that we got to continue to take one game at a time, play hard, and take care of our business,” said Reyes. “We know that one slip up in this district is going to put you one further behind and you just can't do that.”
