TAMPA, FL (KTRE) - Stating he was unknowingly taking a banned substance to control his weight, former Lufkin Panther and current Tampa Bay Buccaneer Jorvorskie Lane has been suspended two games by the NFL.
According to Buccaneers.com, the NFL stated the suspension is without pay and is because Lane violated the NFL policy on performance-enhancing substances.
Lane's suspension begins immediately and he will be eligible to return to the active roster on Nov. 3.
Lane released the following statement on his Facebook page:
"For those who are unaware of my backstory, I was out of the NFL last season due to my weight, which is an issue that I have battled with for many years. I purchased an over-the-counter medication to help my weight loss efforts and, without my knowledge, it contained a banned substance. I appreciate the Tampa Bay Buccaneers organization, head coach Lovie Smith, the Glazer family and Bucs Nation for standing behind me while I serve this two-game suspension. I look forward to being back and helping this team win football games."
