LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - The season of giving is just around the corner but one Lufkin church is getting a jump start.
First Baptist Church Lufkin spent Wednesday evening packing Operation Christmas Child' shoe boxes, full of special toys and gifts.
The boxes will be rounded up and shipped all across the globe to bring smiles to more than one million children's faces this Christmas.
"We're striving to teach our kids to look outside themselves and to be the kind of people that give to others and do things for others and this is just one of the ways that we do that. We pack boxes of toys and toothbrushes and all kinds of items for kids all over the world that really are less fortunate just to pack a box full of love and let them know of the hope that's available to them through Jesus," said First Baptist Church Lufkin's Children & Families pastor, James Craft.
Anyone can participate in Operation Christmas Child. Carpenter's Way Church is a regional drop off location and will accept donations. They also hand out boxes to fill through November.
