LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - A Lufkin man facing murder charges after his child died of starvation last October made a court appearance this morning.
18-year-old Dequisha Jackson and 19-year-old Isaiah Toliver's 2-month-old son died after being severely malnourished. The baby weighed just 5-point-6 pounds. Doctors assumed that the baby had been premature, but when they found that the mother carried the infant full term concerns were raised.
Jackson posted her 25-thousand dollar bail and was not at the hearing.
The hearing was delayed and awaiting autopsy pictures for an expert to view. The judge also requested CPS records on both Toliver and Jackson.
The judge reset their court date for December 1st while more evidence is gathered in this case.
