POLLOK, TX (KTRE) - The Angelina County Sheriff's Office is searching for four men who allegedly broke in to home, tied up a woman, and stole several valuables.
Sheriff Greg Sanches said deputies were called to the 1500 block of Thigpen Road in Pollok, just north of Lufkin, shortly before 9:00 Thursday night.
"The robbers kicked in the door," Sanches said. "They came inside and demanded money and jewelry. They also demanded that they open their safe."
Sanches said as the suspects began to flee the scene, the home owner went to another room, retrieved a gun, and followed the suspects out of the house.
"The home owner fired his weapon at the suspects in the front yard," Sanches said. "The home owner told us that the suspects started firing back before getting in a vehicle."
Sanches said the home owner followed what was described as a dark-colored Jeep Cherokee down Thigpen Road, but lost the vehicle one they got to Highway 69.
"The suspects also tied up the homeowner's wife," Sanches said."She was very upset. She is tormented over this and having a hard time at this time.We had paramedics come out and check on her."
Sanches said all they know about the suspects is that they appear to be four black males, but could not give a good description since they were allegedly wearing masks.
Sheriff's deputies are being assisted by the Texas Rangers in the investigation. Anyone with any information is asked to call the Angelina County Sheriff's Office at (936) 634-3332.
