ANGELINA COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - Investigators with the Angelina County Sheriff's Office have located three guns they believe are connected to Thursday night's home invasion and robbery.
"It was a long night and a long day for us," Sheriff Greg Sanches said.
At least three men broke into a home on the 1500 block of Thigpen Road in Pollok Thursday night around 9 p.m. and tied a woman up and demanded her husband open a safe. They stole money and jewelry. As they were leaving the house, the homeowner told authorities he fired a gun at them and they fired back.
"It's just a wonder that nobody got hurt or killed,"Sanches said. "This was a very dangerous crime that was committed. The people are very fortunate."
Sanches said investigators have found three guns on the side of the road which have come up stolen. Sanches said jewelry that was reported stolen in the break in was also found on the side of the road.
"They found the items about 100 yards away from the scene last night," Sanches said.
Sanches said they know at least three black men with masks on broke into the home by kicking the door in, but there may have been a fourth.
"We will be talking to some other law enforcement agencies, a few counties over on a few ideas that we have that we will be looking into on this investigation," Sanches said.
Anyone with information on the case should call the sheriff's office at 936-634-3332.
