A new partnership will soon be in place to help East Texas students. By the spring of 2005, students can earn credit toward a bachelor's degree in social work by taking classes at Tyler Junior College. Those credits will transfer directly to SFA.
In a meeting Tuesday, the presidents of Tyler Junior College and Stephen F. Austin State University agreed to work together to make that happen. Students who get their associate's degree in social work at TJC will be able to take courses toward an SFA bachelor's degree in social work without ever having to leave the TJC campus.
There are about 60 students studying social work at TJC. SFA is the nearest bachelor's degree provider to Tyler.
