An East Texas soldier who died while fighting in Iraq last week was laid to rest Saturday.
Sergeant First Class Todd C. Gibbs of Lufkin died from an explosive he encountered while on patrol December 7th. He received a military burial complete with 21 gun salute.
Family members say it was a proper burial that showed respect for a fallen hero.
Bret Gibbs, Todd's brother said, "we don't want to loose Todd but we understand that it's men like Todd who give that ultimate sacrifice, and what make us great as a country. You can just see the respect, not only in our home but in the community and all throughout the nation."
