Nacogdoches High School Student Receives Seven Years Behind Bars

A Nacogdoches High School student was sentenced to seven years behind bars for assaulting a police officer while on campus.

According to county officials, 18-year-old Melvin Skinner fought police Officer Ken Van Dyke and two assistant principals for several minutes, before he was put in cuffs. He then proceeded to spit on one of the school officials.

Skinner pleaded guilty to the charge.

District Attorney Stephanie Stephens says this sends a good message to the students that this kind of behavior will not be tolerated.
