Preps Begin For Cold Forecast

Snow blankets North Texas as a burst of winter weather pushes through the region, but in East Texas rain only fell. Nevertheless, motorists should be prepared for more cold weather. Temperatures are expected to remain cold for the Christmas holiday.

Wednesday's rainy weather combined with freezing temperatures in the forecast could make for a dangerous mix for holiday travelers.

Road crews are already preparing for the colder temperatures. In Nacogdoches the Texas Department of Transportation maintenance engineer says two trucks are ready to go with rock and blades. Ample supplies of sand and gravel are ready for use on bridges and roadways if necessary.

As a precaution road crews drained standing water puddles on bridges to prevent a dangerous situation.
