The NAACP is responding to an altercation between Nacogdoches county jailers and an inmate that happened earlier this month.
Brandon Rogers is facing two counts of aggravated assault on a peace officer. He was being moved from the day room back to his cell when the fight started. Rogers and two jail employees were injured.
A NAACP statement claims that Rogers was " a battered victim of alleged police brutality and alleged misconduct of officers at the hands of taxpayer-paid county personnel." Their statement goes on to say that they are seeking "total vindicaton of Mr. Brandon Rogers in this matter."
Sheriff Kerss and the Texas Rangers are conducting their own investigations to be presented to a grand jury next year.
