Child Hit By Car Marks Second Auto-Pedestrian Accident In Two Days

An accident Sunday afternoon sent a 6-year-old to the hospital after he ran out into the street in front of an oncoming vehicle.

Police say around 4:00 PM Sunday, a truck was turning into Terracewood off of Applebee Sands Road when the child ran out in front of him. The driver slammed on his breaks but could not stop in time.

Officers say the child received non-incapacitating injuries as a result of the accident.

There is good news involving another auto-pedestrian accident that occurred Saturday night. The elderly man that was struck in front of the Dairy Queen on South Street in Nacogdoches is in ICU at Nacogdoches Memorial Hospital.

Officers are not releasing his name at this time. Apparently he was standing near the edge of the white line when he was struck.
