LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - A Lufkin woman captures and freezes moments of time for her clients at The Painted Clock Photography. It's a skill she learned as a military photographer in the United States Air Force.
With every click Jennifer Blackledge is telling a story through pictures. It's a passion she didn't even know she had until she joined the Air Force.
"What they chose for me in basic training was photography," Blackledge said.
Blackledge served three and a half years active duty with one tour in Iraq in 2005 taking pictures in a combat zone.
"My job was to take pictures and document other people's jobs and tell their stories," Blackledge said. "It was a four-man team. Me and three other guys and we went and I got to go out in the red zone and check it out. The experience was great to get to serve and go overseas and see the things I've seen and photograph the things I've seen it was just such a cool experience and I'm forever changed for it."
When she finished her service she moved back home to Lufkin and decided to open her own studio: The Painted Clock Photography.
"I do lifestyle and portraiture photography," Blackledge said.
She says her storytelling style of photography comes from her military background.
"From the military I learned how to document. It was more of a journalistic perspective and so I told the story, captured the emotion and the moment of what's going on so that's what I try to do in lifestyle photography for people is tell their story because everyone has a story," Blackledge said.
Blackledge has her own studio where she creates a unique experience for each client which she says is equally as important as the pictures themselves. All her packages include prints and some of her luxury sessions can include hair and make up stylists and in-home portrait design.
She specializes in photographing high school seniors and children. If you want to book a session or learn more about The Painted Clock Photography go here:
