JASPER COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - Sheriff Newman and investigators have identified the body of a man found west of Jasper Thursday evening.
He was 85-year-old Herbert W. Deaton. Jasper Sheriff's Department was involved in a search for him on November eleventh after concerned family members couldn't get in touch with Deaton. He was missing appointments, and his silver 2011 Chevrolet pickup truck was not at his residence.
Jasper authorities went to search for Deaton and found a dead body off of County Rd 73 eight miles from Jasper. The body was identifed as Deaton's today, and the cause of death was ruled by an autopsy report as homicidal violence.
Two people of interest in the case are 29-year-old Ashley Nicole Lewis and 48-year-old Robert Kelly Mounts. The two have been seen driving Deaton's missing truck (license#: CZJ6127.) According to Sheriff Newman, the couple is armed and dangerous. They are travelling with their six month old baby.
"Do not make contact with these people if seen, but please contact your local law enforcement agency immediately with any information," said Sheriff Newman.
