LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - A Lufkin Police Department accident report stated that the motorcyclist from Huntington that was involved in a fatal accident on Ellen Trout Drive on Nov. 9 was unable to stop in time when a car pulled into his lane.
Lt. Mike Shurley, a spokesman for the Lufkin Police Department, said Timothy Lee Snead, 28, was riding a 2014 Harley Davidson north on U.S. Highway 69 in the outside lane. At the same time, Marilyn Crawford, 68, of Hazlehurst, Georgia was also driving north on Ellen Trout Drive in a 2006 Ford Taurus in the other lane.
Crawford, who was headed to Lufkin's Ellen Trout Zoo, changed lanes and moved into the outside lane, Shurley said. Snead locked the motorcycle's brakes, but he collided with the Taurus.
Shurley said Snead was wearing a helmet when the accident occurred.
Crawford and her six-year-old passenger were not injured in the accident.
