LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - The past few days for Lufkin Panther Erik McCoy have been nothing short of a roller coaster.
After a heartbreaking 43-42 loss to the Longview Lobos Friday night to end his high school career, McCoy was offered by the Aggies less than 24 hours later. The offensive linemen immediately accepted the offer, announcing it on his personal Twitter account.
The offer from the Aggies made for McCoy's eighth FBS offer. The 6-4, 297-pound senior had offers from Kansas, Oklahoma State, North Texas, Houston, Louisiana-Lafayette, Arkansas State and New Mexico State.
McCoy will not be going to College Station alone as he will have four other East Texans from his class joining him. The list includes Newton defensive back Roney Elam, Sulphur Springs' Larry Pryor, Gladewater defensive tackle Daylon Mack, and Whitehouse safety Justin Dunning.
McCoy can sign as soon as February 4th with the Aggies.
