MONTGOMERY COUNTY, TX (KTRE) -

Montgomery County Sheriff's deputies arrested a 28-year-old Nacogdoches man on a felony aggravated assault with a deadly weapon charge after an alleged road rage incident on US Highway 59 that left an 18-wheeler with bullet holes in it early Tuesday morning.

Christopher Williams is still being held in the Montgomery County Jail on a second-degree felony aggravated assault charge. His bail has been set at $30,000.

According to a spokesperson for the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office, the initial 911 call about the alleged road rage incident came in at about midnight Tuesday. He said the driver of an 18-wheeler heading into Montgomery County from Liberty County on US 59 called and said that the driver of a white GMC pickup had fire multiple rounds from a pistol after a road rage incident.

At least one of the rounds hit an 18-wheeler, the MCSO spokesman said.

The driver of the 18-wheeler and several other 18-wheelers exited the highway, and the driver of the pickup, who was later identified as Williams blew past them again at approximately 2:12 a.m. Tuesday.

MCSO deputies stopped Williams a short time later, and he was arrested at the scene. Several guns and ammunition were found in his pickup, according to the “Montgomery County Police Reporter.”
