LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - Starlight's sweet meow and loving nature will tug at your heart strings. She's had a tough past few days, but her future is bright.
"She's recovering from some recent surgery that she had," said Aaron Ramsey, the director of the Kurth Memorial Animal Shelter. "She was a stray that came into our shelter, and she had glaucoma really bad and was blind in one eye, and due to the glaucoma, there was a lot of pressure behind the eye, so we went ahead and had the eye removed."
Thanks to the generous donations that people have made to the Kurth Animal Shelter vetting a homeless pet fund. Starlight was able to have a much needed surgery.
"Unfortunately, we're not able to treat every animal that comes into our shelter, but we are able to treat some of them and this one that with her eye condition, and with her great personality, we made the decision to go ahead and treat her," Ramsey said.
Starlight loves to cuddle and is very playful.
"She's a sweet, sweet cat. She's about eight-months-old. Very playful and she's ready to get this off her head," Ramsey said.
She's already spayed but will need some extra care until she is fully recovered from surgery.
"She's a playful cat, and I think she's going to be just fine with that one eye, and she'll have a great quality of life," Ramsey said.
