The peak of the flu season doesn't normally hit until February, but that doesn't mean you should relax.
Health professionals around East Texas are urging you to go ahead and get your flu shot. They are noticing people may be letting their guard down, thinking they have missed the flu this year, because the flu season hasn't been severe. But, especially with the holidays and traveling, you never know when the flu will hit.
Right now, health care workers are trying to find ways to get more vaccine.
Robin Moore, the East Texas Community Health Center director, said, "What we're trying to look at is can we find another source for flu shots, and is there still some demand for it."
If you don't get a flu shot, health care workers say wash your hands frequently and use hand sanitizers to kill germs.
