NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) - Nacogdoches Police officers arrested a 72-year-old man Sunday evening after he allegedly called 911 and said that he had killed his wife.
George Gus Girard, of Nacogdoches, is still being held in the Nacogdoches County Jail on a second-degree felony charge of aggravated assault causing serious bodily injury. His bail has been set at $10,000.
According to the police report, between 5:45 and 6 p.m. Sunday, Girard called 911 and said that he had killed his wife. When the officer arrived on the scene at a residence in the 3600 block of Colonial Drive, the found Girard waiting outside for them.
The NPD officer found Girard's wife unconscious on the kitchen floor with blood on her neck. The woman was taken to the emergency room of a Nacogdoches Memorial Hospital, where she later regained consciousness.
Girard allegedly admitted to pinning his wife to the kitchen floor, putting both hands around her throat, and choking her until she became unresponsive, and he thought she was dead. Girard was arrested at the scene and transported to the Nacogdoches County Jail.
