The Alto Yellowjackets are still at it and are showing no signs of slowing down any time soon.
Coming off a 58-15 area round win over Ore City, the Yellowjackets are carrying on with a 10-0 record.
Being in the regional semifinal round undefeated is rare but Alto will be facing another undefeated team, Union Grove.
The Lions are 11-0 this season, but just barely got by Lovelady in the area round winning 14-7.
Neither team wants their first loss of the season to be the one the ends their run to state, and the Yellowjackets said they won't be thinking about Union Grove's record come game time.
“We're not worried about the record. It's how they go out there because it's a different environment every game so we're not worried about the record. Different teams play differently,” said senior Tyarius Hackett.
“They're undefeated and we're undefeated. It's a shame but one team's going to get their first loss of the season and their season is going to be over with Friday night,” said head coach Paul Gould. “It's not an intimidating thing, it's just the fact they're a real good football team, we're a real good football, and at this point in the playoffs that's what you expect. It's going to be one heck of a ball game Friday night,”
In Gould's thirteen years at Alto, he said he has never played Union Grove. Either way, the two will be meeting for a showdown Friday night at Carthage's Bulldog Stadium starting at 7:30.
