LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - The Christmas season will officially get under way Monday night with the much loved Lufkin Christmas parade.
The theme of the 2014 version of the parade is "Candyland".
"We think people will really get into the spirit of the season as they put their creativity to work on this year's theme," said Barbara Thompson, City of Lufkin Main Street Director. "We have some very talented people in our community and they always amaze us when they put their imaginations and ingenuity to work on their floats for our Christmas parade."
Thompson said the parade is a way to bring the entire community together.
"The Christmas parade is one of the highlights of the season and helps everyone get ready for the holiday," Thompson said. "Schools, churches, businesses and other organizations are encouraged to help brighten up the night by participating in this lighted parade. The parade is still a great way to let the community know about your organization or business."
The parade will start at 6 pm. with the city closing down portions of First, Shepherd, Second, Frank, Third, Burke, Jackson, and Angelina Streets starting at 5 p.m.
