NACOGDOCHES COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - A Nacogdoches man is behind bars after allegedly strangling his ex-girlfriend this weekend.
Around 2 a.m. Sunday the Nacogdoches County Sheriff's Office responded to a residences located at the 200 block of County Road 521. According to Sergeant John Wayne Valdez ,Nineteen-year-old Luis Alanis had got into an argument with his ex-girlfriend over their children and at some point started strangling her.
"The woman's family happened to witness Alanis in the act and intervene," Valdez said.
Alanis was arrested and charged with two counts of assault causing bodily injury, one count of family strangulation, and one count of bodily injury family violence.
Alanis is being held in the Nacogdoches County Jail. His bond has not yet set.
