SHELBY COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - Authorities in Shelby County managed to track down a hunter who claimed to have been kidnapped following an 18-hour search Sunday.
According to Sheriff Willis Blackwell, a call came into the office at 4:25 p.m. Saturday from someone who said their brother, Terry Harrington, 54, had been hunting and started texting him about someone holding him hostage.
Deputies, a TDC K-9 unit, game wardens, a Texas Ranger and volunteer assisted in combing the area in search of Harrington. It continued until 5:30 a.m. Sunday and then resumed later that morning.
At around 10:20 a.m., Harrington was found and was extremely confused, Blackwell said.
Blackwell thanks those who assisted in the search and said it was difficult because he was worried about everyone in the woods during hunting season.
Chief Deputy Shad Sparks said Harrington was not being held hostage, but he could not say why he told his brother he was.
