LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) -

A Lufkin man is hoping for a probation sentence after being caught with child pornography on his phone while attending a basketball game in Huntington in December 2013.

District Attorney Art Bauereiss said Eric Clark Allen, 29, had pleaded guilty earlier, but had to come to court Monday to file an application for probation and a request for a pre-sentence investigation.

Allen was arrested last December after attending a basketball game in Huntington. Huntington ISD Police Chief Mike Jinkins said a Hudson coach approached him and told him about Allen and said he had been banned from Hudson games because he was watching small children.

Jinkins said they kept a close eye on Allen and he showed up at a second game. Jinkins said it did not appear Allen had been paying attention to the games, so he approached him as he was leaving that night.

Jinkins said Allen gave consent for him to search his phone, and Jinkins said officers saw what appeared to be child pornography on it.

Allen is charged with 13 counts of third-degree possession of child pornography.
