LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - Lufkin Police officers arrested a man and a woman after the duo allegedly shoplifted electronic devices from Best Buy, and the man got into a scuffle with one of the store's employees.
Dustin Lee Blalock, 31, of Lufkin, is still being held in the Angelina County Jail on a second-degree felony robbery charge. No bail has been set yet.
Alesia Collier Kennedy. 51, also of Lufkin, was charged with theft of property less than $50 with a previous conviction, which is a Class A misdemeanor. Her bail was set at $1,500.
According to the police report, store employees spotted Blalock and Kennedy shoplifting items inside the Best Buy store located at 4500 S. Medford Drive at approximately 7:45 p.m. Wednesday. Kennedy allegedly had a device for removing the magnetic security items on the merchandise hidden in her hat.
After Kennedy removed the security devices, Blalock would hide the merchandise inside his clothing, the police report stated.
When store employees confronted the duo as they were leaving the store, Blalock allegedly shoved one of them. The two of them fell to the ground after they started grappling, the police report stated.
Lufkin Police officers broke up the struggle when they arrived on the scene. Blalock and Kennedy were arrested at the scene without further incident and taken to the Angelina County Jail.
According to the police report, the duo stole a Windows tablet valued at $199.99 and two Samsung WB350 cameras valued at $149.99 each.
Blalock has an extensive arrest record that dates back to December 2000. According to the Angelina County Jail web site, his arrests include failure to identify as a fugitive, forgery, numerous theft charges, burglary of a building, possession of a dangerous drug, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
