HOUSTON COUNTY, TX (KTRE) -

After a 20-year-old Grapeland woman accused of breaking her grandmother's hip in 2012 was a no-show at her status hearing on Monday, a Houston County judge has issued an arrest warrant for her.

Danielle Nicole Melson turned herself in at the Houston County Jail back in June of 2012.

In a previous East Texas News story, Inv. Chuck Franklin with the Grapeland Police Department said the investigation stemmed from a May 5, 2012 incident when Danielle Nicole Melson, 18, got in an altercation with her 76-year-old grandmother and pushed her, breaking her hip.

Franklin said the grandmother had to have hip replacement surgery.

Franklin said a warrant for Melson's arrest, on a charge of injury to the elderly, was obtained the same day. He said that police had been looking for Melson for some time because she had kept moving from place to place.

"It's always nice when they take care of it like that," Franklin said. "It saves a lot of time and money."
