Leadership Lufkin teams with Brookshire Brothers to give away free year of dog food

LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - In an effort to raise funds for the new dog park, the members of Lufkin's Leadership Class will be selling raffle tickets for a free year of dog food.

The group has partnered with the Brookshire Brothers location on Gaslight to give away $500 worth of dog food and a Yeti cooler.
"They hit it out of the park with it," Daniel Tyler said. "We are very happy to have them on board with that to donate that. It is a huge expense. We have one dog and it's about 500 dollars a year."

In September, the group's project was approved to move forward by the Chamber of Commerce and the city of Lufkin.

The project has an estimated cost of $40,000. The money will come in from donations. The park is set to be built at Grace Dunne Richardon park. The group has nine months to complete the project.

Tickets will be sold for the raffle on Dec.13 from 10 am- 8 pm, and on the 19th and 20th as well.

Santa will also pay a special visit to the store on Dec. 13 from 10 am-2 pm.

Tickets are one for $5 or 3 for $10.
