Nacogdoches police catch man following manhunt

NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) - Nacogdoches police have arrested a Lufkin man accused of burglarizing a home and then showing back up and pointing a gun at the person inside the house.

According to police spokesman Sgt. Greg Sowell, police began Wednesday investigating a burglary call at a home in the 900 block of Townsend Avenue. Sowell said a man had gone inside the house and threatened the person inside.

Then at 9:57 a.m., Nacogdoches firefighters responded to a fire at the same house. The cause is under investigation.

Then at 1:17 p.m., the person in the home called officers to report a piece of evidence in the burglary had been located. Officers responded and say the suspect in the burglary had just been seen inside a wood line behind the home and had pointed a gun at the person inside the home. The officer tried to find him, but could not.

All available officers responded to the area and established a perimeter in the area of Wells Street, South Fredonia Street, Loop 224 and West Seale Street. Officers from DPS, the sheriff's office, constables and NISD police also assisted.

After a two-hour search, the suspect, Gregory William Sisson, 27, was found hiding in a large culvert near the south end of Reedy Street. Officers found a rifle and shotgun nearby.
