LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - Members of Lufkin's First Baptist Church and New Beginnings Baptist Church came together Wednesday morning to deliver a truck full of canned goods to a local food pantry.
The truck of cans was delivered to the Christian Information and Services Center in Lufkin.
The canned goods were collected this past Sunday as admission to a joint concert between the two congregations. The show was titled "Christmas makes Everything New". The pastors of the two churches said the show was a way for the two churches to show unity.
Leaders said the choice to donate to CISC was an easy one.
"It's one of the best agencies we have and they do a wonderful job at making sure that everybody in our city; that nobody goes hungry and everybody is taken care of," said First Baptist Associate Pastor Aubrey Knox.
On top of the canned goods, the church also donated a check of over $1,000. The money was collected as a love offering during the show.
