According to the Angelina County Sheriff's Office activity report, an ACSO deputy spotted a traffic violation and pulled a vehicle over near the intersection of Atkinson and Timberland drives at 1:18 a.m. Thursday.
When the deputy made contact with the driver, he noticed a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. After Olvera, the passenger in the vehicle, told the deputy that the vehicle was his, he allegedly fled from the deputies.
Olvera was caught a short time later. A search revealed that he had $1,460 in his pocket, the activity report stated.
Deputies searched the vehicle and allegedly found 39.2 grams of a crystal-like substance which field-tested positive for methamphetamine in the dash. A Taurus .40-caliber handgun was found in the vehicle, and it was within reach of both Davis, the driver, and Olvera. Deputies also found a spoon and a scale in the vehicle.
