LIVINGSTON, TX (KTRE) - A Livingston woman is in trouble with the law after police claim she took a joyride in an Ambulance Tuesday morning.

Tracie Davidson, 45 of Livingston, is being charged with theft of property between $20,000 and $100,000. She is being held in the Polk County Jail on a $10,000 bond.

According to Det. Leon Middelton, Davidson was caught off of Pine Street Tuesday afternoon.

"She told officers that her car broke down near highway 59," Middelton said. "She claims she started walking for help and went to the ambulance office and knocked on the door. When no one would answer she said she got in the ambulance and turned on the heat to stay warm."

Middelton said Davidson told officers that after she woke up, she started the ambulance and drove off.

"Someone inside the office heard the backing up lights and then looked outside as she drove off," Middelton said. "Police were able to catch her quickly. The ambulance has a GPS inside and the office called us and told us where she was going."
