LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - The Brookshire Brothers on Chestnut Street celebrated the holidays by giving out "Hams for Hunger" Friday.
The generous effort was possible through a partnership between Brookshire Brothers and Hormel.
The recipients of the hams were the Salvation Army and GODTEL.
The representatives were very grateful to be able to share these hams with their clientele just in time for the holidays.
"Our family tradition was to have a ham on Christmas day and I realize that a lot of people now don't have that opportunity," said Renea Wilson, a case worker for Salvation Army. "We're so blessed to be friends with Brookshire and Hormel and to be able to provide this service to our clients.
The Zavalla Fire Department will also receive hams for hunger as a part of their fundraiser.
