Lufkin police had their hands full Monday when a woman slipped out of her handcuffs and took off during a routine traffic stop.
Police pulled over 33 year-old Scharlene Eloyce Hight for a traffic violation. They later found out she had outstanding warrants and handcuffed her. Hight was in the back seat of the police car when she freed one of her hands, crawled over the front seat, opened the door and took off. Police caught up with her after a short foot chase near the loop.
Her charges include unlawfully carrying a weapon, revocation of probation, several traffic citations and escape.
