ANGELINA COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - Angelina County Sheriff's deputies arrested a Lufkin couple on Tuesday after they responded to a domestic disturbance and found that the woman had allegedly fired a gunshot at her partner.
When the deputies tried to catch the woman after she ran from them, the man fought them, according to an Angelina County Sheriff's Office activity report.
Alicia Rachell Meeks, 26, and Jonathan Russell Suggs, 33, are both still being held in the Angelina County Jail. Meeks was charged with a first-degree aggravated assault with a deadly weapon charge and two capias pro fine warrants for public intoxication and assault-family violence. Suggs was charged with a state-jail jail felony possession of a controlled substance charge, a Class A misdemeanor resisting arrest charge, a Class B interfering with public duties charge, and a Class B misdemeanor criminal mischief between $50 and $500 charge.
Although no bail has been set for Meeks' aggravated assault charge, a collective bail of $556 has been set for her two capias pro fine warrants. No bail has been set for Suggs' possession or interfering with public duties charges, but his collective bail was set at $3,000 for the other two charges.
According to the ACSO activity report, Meeks allegedly fired a shot at Suggs during "a disturbance over unknown situation." When the deputies arrived at the residence in the 700 block of Cotton Thompson Road at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Meeks allegedly fled from them.
Then when the ACSO deputies went to try to catch her, Suggs became uncooperative and fought with the deputies to keep them from finding Meeks, the report said. The deputies took Suggs into custody and placed into the back of a patrol unit, where he allegedly kicked windows and damaged the unit.
A short time later, Meeks was found hiding in a field behind the residence, and she was arrested. She and Suggs were transported to the Angelina County Jail without any further incident.
