CENTER, TX (KTRE) - After over a year without a medical facility, Center residents will soon have an emergency room to go to.
Nacogdoches Medical Center opened the doors of its new Center Emergency and Diagnostic Imaging Facility for a select few Thursday afternoon.
"What this community has been without for over a year now, they now have in our facility," said Nacogdoches Medical Center's COO Clay Farell.
In July of 2013, the Shelby Regional Medical Center was shut down after the owner Tariq Mahood said the facility lost Medicaid and Medicare funding.
Last January, Nacogdoches Medical Center stepped in and announced they would be building a facility in the area. The broke ground in February.
