Complaint: Onalaska man molested, sexually assaulted young girl

ONALASKA, TX (KTRE) - Polk County authorities arrested 32-year-old Onalaska man on three felony child sex charges on Dec. 13 in connection to allegations that he molested and sexually assaulted a young girl.

James Monterran Norman is still being held in the Polk County jail on three felonies - an indecency with a child by sexual contact charge and two sexual assault of a child charges. Collectively, his bail has been set at $150,000.

According to the complaint the East Texas News obtained on Dec. 19, the Onalaska Police Department opened an investigation into the sexual assault of a child allegations on July 15. Originally, the case had been a San Jacinto County case because the girl had been staying with her grandmother in that county.

During a forensic interview that was given in Cold Spring, the girl told the interviewer that Norman molested her when she was 14 and told her that he was going to teach her how it was in the real world, according to the complaint. The girl also told the interviewer that Norman had sexually assaulted her on two different occasions at his home when she was 15, the complaint stated.

The girl told the interviewer that she told Norman to stop the first time, and he did, according to the complaint. However, he didn't stop the second time until he heard someone walk into the house.

The girl allegedly told an Onalaska Police officer that she told her mother what had happened, but her mother did nothing about it. However, when the OPD officer talked to the girl's mother, the woman denied that her daughter had ever told her anything about being sexually assaulted, the complaint said.

According to the complaint, the SANE exam performed on the girl indicated sexual activity.

The complaint stated there are no specific dates about when the molestation and sexual assaults other than when he carved his name on her arm.
