TRINITY, TX (KTRE) -

A Trinity Police officer arrested a 42-year-old man on child endangerment and domestic assault charges Monday after he allegedly got angry that his wife wouldn't come to bed with him and assaulted her while he was “hovering” over his 1-year-old son.

Felipe Reyes-Carrillo, of Trinity, was arrested and charged with state-jail felony endangering a child and Class A misdemeanor domestic assault.

According to the on-view arrest warrant, a Trinity Police officer was dispatched out to a residence in the 100 block of Kelly Street in reference to a disturbance. When the officer got there, he immediately took Reyes into custody because Reyes' wife and daughter were both crying uncontrollably.

The affidavit stated that the officer could see a small child in the bedroom adjacent to the living room. Because Reyes' wife couldn't speak English, his 9-year-old daughter translated.

The girl told the Trinity Police officer that her mother had been lying in bed with the girl's little brother, who was two days shy of two years old on Monday, when her father came into the room and told her mother to come to bed. When the victim refused, Reyes allegedly tried to pull his wife off the bed, and she kicked at him.

According to the affidavit, Reyes used the open palms of both hands to slap his wife's ears at the same time. The girl told the officer that her father continued to yell and scream at her mother for a few minutes and then walked out of the home.

At that point, the victim grabbed her cell phone and called 911. Then she handed the phone back to her daughter because she couldn't speak English, the affidavit stated.

“The assault took place while the defendant was hovering over his two-year-old son,” the affidavit stated. “The defendant was criminally negligent and placed his son in danger of physical harm.”

The affidavit stated that Reyes was “extremely intoxicated” and that he admitted to drinking “a few six-packs of beer.”

Reyes was arrested at the scene and transported to the Trinity Police Department.
